Tips - Hardwood Flooring
Appications
Typically in the past hardwood flooring
was generally installed by driving a nail or staple at a
45-degree angle through the exposed tongue of each
individual board. In doing this, you not only nail the
hardwood board to the sub floor, but you force the board
you are nailing hard up against the previous board,
removing any gaps.
Many of the new easy to install, prefinished hardwood
flooring products are much easier to install. They require
little or no gluing and lay down very quickly. These are
most suitable for damper bases such as basement floors.
These new manufactured hardwood floors are nearly
impervious to moisture.
Large outlets such as Lowes Home Improvement have very
knowledgeable staff to help you select the right material.
They also conduct regular training seminars to demonstrate
proper installation techniques.
Most new style hardwood flooring is manufactured with a
tongue and groove. The tongue and groove allow the product
to be layed quickly by simply locking a section to another
section simply and quickly. This provides a nice tight even
installation and even allows you to install many
applications with little or no glue.
The days of technically difficult nailing and spacing of
hardwood flooring have gone by the wayside. Applying
dangerous inside your home is no longer a necessity with
these products. Give it a try. The average handyman can be
very successful with these new, easy to use
products.
